Deb Weiner has committed her life to kids’ health and well-being—working for Children’s Wisconsin for almost 18 years until she retired in 2022.

Deb started as the manager for the Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (HOT) Unit, now the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. She was involved in the transition from the HOT Unit to the MACC Fund Center, helping secure funding and grow efforts to improve and enhance care.

The MACC Fund Center now ranks among the best programs in the nation.

In 2004, Deb ended her tenure as the Executive Director of the MACC Fund Center and joined the Children’s Strategic Planning team, eager to use her strategic thinking and execution skills. She helped establish the mental and behavioral health strategic plan now being implemented.

The plan includes multiyear strategies to better address kids’ mental and behavioral health needs. Deb echoes one of our firmest beliefs at Children’s, “There simply is no health without mental health.”

Since retiring, Deb has been working part-time with local mental and behavioral health providers and community organizations to advance access to mental health services in Milwaukee County.

Already a long-time donor, Deb has named Children’s the beneficiary of a percentage of her donor advised fund. This gift will be added to Deb’s fund at Children’s, the Debra L. Weiner Fund for Mental Health, which focuses on innovative programs and staff resilience.

KIDS ARE OUR FUTURE. As individuals and as a community, our best investment is in our children. We must always think about what the world will be like in the next generations.”
